Mission impossible for Japan

Article Abstract:

Japan's space program, much like the country's economy is in doldrums with not much being done to get their space programs off the drawing boards and on the launch pad but all analysts agree that the problem is one of attitude rather than that of technology. The Japanese are in a period of transition from being a developed country capable of producing the best systems to a developing country that can pioneer new avenues of research.

Digging Japan Inc. out of its grave

Article Abstract:

This article describes the work of the Industrial Revitalization Corp., the government owned corporation charged with curing Japan's decade-old bad-loan problem. A beak-through in the loan area could bring Japan out of its economic morass by freeing up bank capital and encouraging growth.

Japan's soft underbelly

Article Abstract:

The economic conditions of Japan are discussed. Although the economy of Japan is reasonably strong many parts of the country are still so weak that a few troubled big companies can bring them down. The various companies that may effect the economic recovery of Japan are discussed.
