Mmmuffins seeking upscale diners

Mmmuffins Canada has renamed its mmmarvelous mmmuffins unit as the mmm Specialty Bakery and Beverage Company. The name change marks the company's entry into the specialty coffee category while maintaining its famous 'mmm' name. The company has also opened two new full-service Michel's Bakery and Bistro locations in Toronto, Ontario, under the Michel's Baguette brand. Mmmuffins Canada is also planning to start its relationship marketing campaign that will market its dinner services through direct mail and word-of-mouth marketing.

McDonald's serves it up to Cossette

Article Abstract:

McDonald's has awarded its advertising account for English Canada to Cossette Communication-Marketing. The award came as a shock to McAgency which expected to win the account. Cossette will add English Canada to its existing contract which has included the Quebec business for almost 30 years, the Maritime business since 1999 and the national head-office acount since 1991. The win means big growth for Cossette's offices in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Halifax and Vancouver.

Public relations and event support in multicultural marketing is a new concept that has become as important as traditional advertising in both mainstream and ethnic media. One advertising agency executive noted that marketers need to proactively develop creative methods to establish immediate, interactive communication with multicultural communities that traditional advertising does not allow. The commitment required is considerable, but the opportunities are even greater.
