Molson ups Maritimes marketing

Article Abstract:

Molson Breweries of Canada plans to increase marketing and advertising activities in the Maritime Provinces after severing its partnership with Moosehead Breweries. Previously, Moosehead handled the brewing, sales and distribution of Molson's Canadian beer brand in the Maritime region. Molson's expanded marketing campaign not only covers Canadian but also the Export, Molson Dry, Coors Light, Miller, Corona and the Heineken brands. Molson currently has a 70% share of the beer market in the Maritime Provinces.

Molson Canadian's 2000 television campaign, which continues its popular 'I AM Canadian' theme, has garnered a honorable mention award at the first- ever Media Innovations Awards, presented by 'Marketing Magazine' on Nov 15, 2000 at a gala event in Toronto, Ontario. The TV ad featured the adventures of three men and three women exploring Canada's people, places and pride, Tha campaign aimed to create content that supported the brand attributes that include sociability, visibility, popularity and drinkability.

The Molson Canadian Rant

Molson Canada's Rant campaign has garnered a gold award at the first-ever Media Innovations Awards, presented by 'Marketing Magazine' on Nov 15, 2000 at a gala event in Toronto, Ontario. The campaign, produced by advertising agency, M2 Universal, combined live performances and television commercials featuring actor Joe Canadian. The promotion aimed to equate emotionally demonstrative patriotism with Molson Canada.
