Foreign banks are considering acquiring minority stakes in some Chinese banks as a way to curry favor with regulators for future endeavors. China is set to open its $1.7 trillion deposit banking sector. HSBC is in talks to acquire approximately 8% of the Bank of Shanghai for about $60 million.
