More U.K. power generators weigh buying supply businesses

Article Abstract:

United Kingdom's power generators have expressed interest in the acquisition of electricity supply operations with conditions set by the government. A utilities analyst said generators earlier did not consider purchasing supply business, thinking they would not be allowed. Local power generators changed their minds after the acceptance by PowerGen PLC of government conditions avoiding antitrust referrals for the conclusion of a buy of East Midlands Electricity. A support for the consolidation of supply and generated business had been indicated by the Labour government.

Article Abstract:

Geologist Colin Campbell believes that the world has reached the 'high point' of oil availability and that petroleum will become increasingly scarce and expensive.
