More outbursts against whaling - as IWC meets in Korea

Article Abstract:

The reasons presented by the United States, Australia, New Zealand and European countries, before the International Whaling Commission at its 57th annual meeting in Korea, for preventing Japan from obtaining an expansion of its whaling program, are discussed. The concerns expressed by the representatives of these nations for preservation of whales is highlighted.

Whaling: over-catching will not be repeated - says Japan's Joji Morishita

Joji Morishita, Japanese IWC commissioner, explains the pro-whaling stance of Japan at the International Whaling Commission. According to Morishita, Japan is for commercial whaling in a sustainable manner without compromising on endangered species.

Canada lists 347 species

Article Abstract:

Canadian government has added Northern bottle nosed whales and channel bass to its list of protected species under Species at Risk Act. By this addition the number of protected fish species has increased to 347.
