Several beer companies in Canada have increased their in-case promotions for summer 1999, by partnering with other businesses. Labatt breweries has hooked up with Cantel AT and T to give buyers of special cases Labatt Blue a chance to win Nokia cellular telephones. McAuslan Brewing has linked with Paragraphe Bookstore and Librarie Champigny to offer consumers of special cases of McAuslan's Griffon and Ste Ambroise brands $2 discount coupons for the purchase of reading materials at these bookstores.

Montana chain cooking down south

Article Abstract:

Montana's Cookhouse Saloon of the Canadian suburbs has expanded in the US using the name Montana's Cookhouse Grill and Bar. The family-oriented, casual-dining restaurant chain has already built two branches in the US, one in Orchard Park, NY, and another one in Tonawanda, NY. The restaurant chain plans to build four to six more locations in the US. Montana's is confident that it will achieve success in the US because of the tendency of Americans to eat out more.

ONtv rebrands, goes local

Article Abstract:

ONtv, the CanWest Global television broadcasting unit, will change its name to CHtv and concentrate mainly on local content. The TV station, which failed to make an impact in the Ontario market as ONtv, will train its attention to the Hamilton/Halton/Niagara region of Canada. CHtv plans to cater to the local news needs of 1.2 million affluent individuals from Niagara to Oakville, a market described as having no rival station.
