Why IPOs still use the old way

Article Abstract:

Dutch Auctions or an auction-style initial public offering where the company selling shares offers a set number of stocks to be sold, suggesting a price range and selling to the highest bids until all the stocks are sold is a rare occurrence and Wall Street firms are discouraging the practice as there is a risk of "adverse outcome". Morningstar Inc. was the latest initial public offering of this nontraditional practice, share price rising 8.4 percent on the first day of trading and finishing at 55 percent higher than the offer price as of yesterday with total valuation of $162 million.
