Movenpick's Carrotti chops through clutter

Article Abstract:

Richtree Inc. will open new locations in Quebec, Canada, and the US, the first time that the company is expanding its Movenpick Marche restaurant outside Ontario, Canada. A Mavenpick site will open in Montreal, Canada, in August 1998, while another in Boston, MA, in September 1998. In 1999, new restaurants will appear in Chicago, IL, San Diego, CA, and the World Trade Center in New York, NY. The Toronto, Canada-based company also unveiled Carrotti icon, a cartoon to help customers identify healthy foods available at Richtree's restaurants, which carries the name Movenpick Marche, Marchelino and Masquerade Caffe-Bar. The Carrotti icon will eventually appear in packaged foods available in supermarkets and other retailers.

Thinking outside the pizza box

Article Abstract:

Mike's Restaurants, which has 113 outlets, is changing its image, a development that is being supported by a television commercial. The restaurant chain's objective is to change the public perception from a fast-food place-in and out in 30 minutes to more of a restaurant. The ad features Quebec singer and actress Ginette Reno who shows that the restaurant offers other food other than pizza.

Details of the Mini Palais, a restaurant named after one of BMW's automobiles, are presented. Olivier Maurey, chief executive officer of events company Luderic, teamed up with chef Gilles Choukroun to create the menu for the restaurant. His company spent around $1.5 million for the project.
