Multicriteria analysis of the burden sharing in the European Community

Article Abstract:

A multicriteria decision making approach is used to determine a percentage contribution scale for member states of the EC. The Geographic Access Information and Analysis (GAIA) system, based on Promethee methods, is used to analyze simulations run on the PROMCALC software based on calculations for multicriteria preference indices and outranking characters of each country. Although some simulations yield scales that may cost poorer countries more, parametric variations during the decision making process will yield more equitable scales.

Optimization aspects of deadlock prevention in packet-switching networks

Article Abstract:

Poor control of resource allocationdemands in packet switching often results in deadlock, livelock, system overloads and other data congestion problems. The store-and-forward deadlock problem can be prevented by the application of distributed algorithms. Of the strategies analyzed, the Packet Exchange Scheme and Erasable-Packet Multiplication were found topology and network-size independent, implying theiradaptability to various data transmission processes. Further research using multicriteria approaches, however, is recommended.
