Multicriteria decision analysis and environmental economics: an approximation

Article Abstract:

The popular multicriteria decision making method called Compromise Programming forms the basis of a multicriteria approach for solving basic problems in environmental economics, which is applicable to cases involving natural assets with multiple uses. Two potential applications of the methodology are suggested. These involve the reconciliation of economic, environmental and recreational objectives central to the management of an environmental system and the appraisal of environmental improvements or damages when nonmonetary objectives are involved.

Goal programming for decision making: an overview of the current state-of-the-art

Article Abstract:

Recent developments in the theory of goal-programming (GP) are analyzed. These include the modelling techniques for pareto efficiency restorations, normalization, naive prioritization and redundancy checking. The correlations between GP and other multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) techniques and the utility interpretation of GP are discussed while the feasibility of ranking MCDM techniques is also examined.

Comparison of two multicriteria decision aid methods: net flow and rough set methods in a high yield pulping process

Article Abstract:

The comparison of the usefulness of the net flow method and the rough set method, for the design of decision support systems to aid multicriteria decision making, is presented.
