Article Abstract:

BDL Hotels was established in October 1997 by David Thomson, Louis Woodcock and Brian Simmers to build 10 Holiday Inn Express (HIE) hotels by the end of the year 2000. Over 200 new jobs will be created by developing the HIE franchise, with funding of 27 million pounds sterling coming from the Royal Bank of Scotland. HIE franchises are well established in Europe but account for only 3% of UK hotel bed stock. BDL Hotels would like to increase this to 8% of UK bed stock by the year 2000.

Your money or your reputation?

Article Abstract:

The provision of acquisition finance in Scotland is become a highly competitive sector. Against this background, it is vital to source and complete deals as quickly and effectively as possible. A high 'scarcity' value is now being placed on good deals, and this makes it particularly important for funders, particular senior debt providers, to perform very well. Scottish bankers will be forced to continue to focus on improving their ability to manage deals.
