NAMIBIA: INVITATION TO TENDER FOR 2ND MOBILE LICENCE

Article Abstract:

MTC will build eight telecom stations in the centre of Windhoek, as part of a US$ 100mn investment plan to enhance its network during the current fiscal year. The company, the only mobile phone operator in Namibia, expects 100,000 subscribers in 2002 compared with 57,000 today. In this context, the Namibian state recently asked the Namibian Communications Commission to issue an invitation to tender for the allocation of a second mobile phone licence.
