Article Abstract:

Mr Nandan M Nilekani, the deputy director of Infosys Technologies Ltd (ITL), Bangalore, has been appointed managing director/president and chief operating officer of ITL effective April 1999. Mr Narayana Murthy, the current chairman and managing director, will be the chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Under the new management structure, Mr Nandan M Nilekani will take charge of day-to-day operations and will report to Mr Narayana Murthy. The strategic move of the company is to enable Mr Narayana Murthy to concentrate on promoting the IT brand equity globally. Mr Narayana Murthy will be dealing in expanding infrastructure and growth opportunities. (gs)

INFOSYS SHAREHOLDERS CLEAR APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTORS

Article Abstract:

The shareholders of Infosys Technologies Ltd (ITL) have approved the appointment of four new directors to the board of ITL. Mr SM Datta, former chairman of Hindustan Lever Ltd and Indian Aluminium Company, Mr Ramesh Vangal, president of Seagram (Asia- Pacific), Mr Deepak M Satwalekar, managing director of HDFC and Mr Charles E Merrill, a professor of finance at the New York University have been appointed as directors on the board of ITL. The four members were earlier co-opted into the board. A final dividend of Rs6 per share for 1997-98 has been approved by shareholders. (khr)
