N.S. election ads off to a slow start

Article Abstract:

Advertising activity in the Nova Scotia provincial election is observed to have started slow, with the Progressive Conservative (PC) and New Democratic (NDP) parties still at their planning stage. Agar Adamson, a political scientist and professor at Acadia University, said that such a delay would mean more expensive advertising for the political parties. The Liberal Party intends to spend around $734,000 for its advertising, while the PC and the NDP plan to use approximately $750,000 each for the ads.

Call Centre Conundrum

Article Abstract:

CorporaTel allows its employees to have fun for themselves through its Dream Fund, which requires the call center's full-time salaried employees to contribute $500 per year. Introduced in Jan 1999, Dream Fund is designed to keep good employees who will help the center handle the fast growth of the call center industry. The brainchild of CorporaTel President Chris Spencer, Dream Fund is a good example of employee benefit program in an industry burdened with a sweatshop reputation.
