California will buy transmission assets of power company

National Grid agrees to acquire KeySpan in a $7.3 billion deal

National Grid Group PLC of the United Kingdom is to acquire KeySpan Corp. of the United States for $7.3 billion or $42 per share. The electricity utility created would be the third largest energy company in the United States. National Grid Group PLC will assume the United States companies' $4.2 billion in debt.
