Netherlands: Makro removes foie gras after protest

Article Abstract:

Makro, an international retail group, has removed all tins of foie gras on sale in the Netherlands after a protest group, called Wakker Dier, protested against the way the geese were treated in the making of the product. Bert Vukkink, Makro marketing manager, said the board of directors has not been aware of the methods used and that the turnover was only a few thousand guilders and not worth the bad publicity.
