New recce sensors for Danish F-16s

Article Abstract:

Per Udsen and Terma Elektronik, both based in Denmark, have ordered an undetermined number of reconnaissance, infrared surveillance, targeting acquisition (RISTA) sensors from Electronic Sensors and Systems Division (ESSD) of Northrop Grumman. The Danish companies will install RISTA with daylight framing cameras on F-16 fighters of the Royal Danish Air Force as part of its Mid-Life Update. ESSD will consummate deliveries about September 1999. The sensors use a second-generation forward-looking infrared (FLIR) staring sensor operating in the 8-12 micrometer band. RISTA can work as a FLIR or as a linescanner with usual sweep width of 12 km from a height of 10,000 ft.

Denmark to fit F-16s with missile warners

Article Abstract:

The Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) wants to grant a contract by the end of 1998 for missile-approach warners to be installed in its F-16 aircraft which went through the Mid-Life Update (MLU) program. The top competitors for such a program are the Sanders AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System (CMWS), the Northrop Grumman AN/AAR-54, and the Daimler-Benz Aerospace/Litton Applied Technology AN/AAR-60 Missile Launch Detection System (MILDS). The RDAF's four F-16 squadrons are already fitted with the Terma Electronic Warfare Management System (EWMS).

ACIS tracks down combat SAR

Article Abstract:

Tadiran Spectralink of Israel has launched a new combat search and rescue (SAR) avionics system called Advanced Combat Integrated SAR (ACIS). ACIS builds on the communications technology of the Airborne Search and Rescue System (ASARS) that is currently being used by the Israeli Defense Force/Air Force and a number of NATO and Asia Pacific countries. ACIS' main difference with ASARS is its new command, control, communications and intelligence capabilities.
