Nissan's profit rises but sales fall: CEO is upbeat

Although Nissan Motor Company Ltd. reported a 31% increase in net income for the July-to-September quarter, vehicle sales fell 7.6% for the same period. However, CEO Carlos Ghosn is confident that upcoming new model launches will result in continued record earnings for the company.

Toyota executives are accused of failing to recall faulty model

Police in Japan have accused three Toyota Motor Corp. executives of failing to recall the Hilux Surf recreational vehicle. An accident and customer complaints led to a recall in October 2004, but problems were reported in models from 1992 on, with no recall notices issued.

Toyota Chairman Okuda retires

Article Abstract:

Chairman Hiroshi Okuda, Toyota Motor Corp. of Japan resigned on Friday. Mr. Okuda promoted the automobile giant into financial health so that it now rivals General Motors Corp. of the United States as the largest car company in the world.
