No SECs please, we're European

Article Abstract:

A single financial market has yet to be set up in Europe, though a single currency is in use in many countries. Deutsche Borse chief executive, Werner Seifert, aims to achieve a single financial market. There has been more progress in banking regulation than in securities regulation. Investors encounter bureaucratic obstacles when they seek to invest abroad. There have been calls for a regulatory body to cover Europe as a whole based on the US model, or even a body to cover financial serbices as a whole.
