No love lost

Article Abstract:

The prospects of Anwar Ibrahim's return to power in United Malays National Organization (UMNO) have diminished if the recent statements of Prime Minister Abdulla Ahmad Badawi are anything to go by. To make the matters worse, Ibrahim, former deputy leader of UMNO could not convince the Federal court to review the 1999 corruption conviction. The reasons for UMNO party factions resenting Ibrahim's return are also discussed.

Article Abstract:

The announcement of the Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmed Badavi to set up a royal commission, to review the police force is evaluated. It will focus on issues like police brutality, corruption, poor service, and also the problems faced by the police force like low pays etc. The commission must comprise credible commissioners and the enquiry must be time bound, to be more effective.

Abdullah needs to win big

The campaigning of Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi of the National Front, who is expected to win the elections starting from March 21, 2004, is reported. The Prime Minister's early performance has impressed many Malaysians, who feel that the majority of the seats would go to the National Front candidates.
