Against all odds

Article Abstract:

The Foyer, a building in the centre of Birmingham, England, designed for the foyer movement by Ian Simpson Architects, presents an image of a five-storey wall which is curved around the street corner. The four upper floors are made from red brick panels, while the ground floor is half in blue brick and half in full-height glazing. Externally, the building's most dramatic feature is the sharp point formed by the two fully-glazed walls of a triangular common room on each of the four upper floors.
