Nokia's profit warning stuns markets around the world

Nokia Corp. has issued a profit warning for the second quarter, causing a selloff that eradicated more than one-fifth of the firm's value and alarmed global stock markets. The company announced that its earnings would come under pressure, stating that spending on telecom equipment in the U.S. is now affecting other parts of the world.

The differences of European wireless access providers (WAP) verses short message service (SMS) is discussed, showing among other things that SMS is cheaper and easier to install and operate, though not as functional as WAP.
