Tensions that lie beneath the surface

Article Abstract:

The RIBA Architecture Centre in London, England, is currently staging an exhibition entitled 'Architecture from Austria 1896-1996.' The exhibition does not really attempt to relate architectural change to a century in Austrian history in which many significant developments took place. The photographs are left to present their own story, but the visitor gains limited understanding of significant buildings because most of them are represented in only one image.
