Motorcycle enthusiasts were once considered counterculture, but now they are an important political subgroup. Bikers tend to be anti-big government and are being courted by the Republican party. One appeal was made by Elizabeth Dole, when she appeared a television talk show wearing biker leathers.

Republicans rethink

Article Abstract:

The Republicans suffered a great loss with the defeat of Pres Bush, and the party is now split. The Christian right alienates moderates, and another group led by Bob Dole is the traditional establishment. A third group is fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
