Old battle, new strategy

Article Abstract:

The International Monetary Fund and World Bank are changing their approaches to developing economies and seeking greater input from those economies themselves. The aim is to reduced infant mortality and extreme poverty, and to allow all social groups to take part in policy formation. The two organizations are also to cooperate more closely. Economic growth is needed to alleviate poverty. There is a need for aid recipients to be commited to their economic policies, but it is not clear how this can be achieved.
