Optimal lot-sizing in an imperfect production system with homogeneous reworkable jobs

Article Abstract:

The problem of determining the optimal lot-size in a single-stage imperfect production system where the job processing has a high failure rate is studied. The defects generated may be reworkable defects or non-reworkable defects which have to be thrown away. Optimal lot-sizing is obtained under a class of operating policies, to optimize the average profit indefinitely. The profit function is also determined in addition to the optimal lot size. A very efficient algorithm for obtaining the optimal lot size is presented.

Multi-period production control in a centralized fully flexible manufacturing system

Article Abstract:

A centralized manufacturing system, that is both reliable and flexible, is studied using a dynamic optimal dispatching model for making decisions on policy in the short term, cutting down on operational expenditure. Solution procedures are developed for both feedback and non-feedback cases, using convex analysis for the feedback example and decentralised optimal control in the cases of non-feedback.

Modeling the role of retail price formats, and retailer competition types on production schedule strategy

Article Abstract:

A modeling framework is developed to examine the effect of retail-pricing policies on the choice between make-to-stock and make-to-order in operations management.
