Optimal replacement policies with minimal repair and age-dependent costs

Article Abstract:

A modified minimal repair/replacement problem presented as a Markov decision process is examined. Operating costs is assumed to be a nondecreasing function of system age. A control limit policy is found to be optimal over the space of all possible policies, as covered by the discounted cost criterion. the total expected discounted cost is used as basis for a computational algorithm for the optimal (t,T) policy.

A control policy for replacement involving two machines and one repairman

Article Abstract:

A replacement policy for two machines being serviced by one repairman was formulated by analyzing a class of age replacement policies in the context of controlling a G/M/1 queueing system with a finite calling population. The control policy is based on age factors. The results showed that the control limit functions only when the repairman is idle, and when a machine attains a certain age, it is replaced.

Analysis of asymmetric patrolling repairman systems

Article Abstract:

The stochastic behavior of asymmetric patrolling repairman systems having repair scheduling disciplines of the Markov schedules class is described. Patrolling discipline, distributions of the repair and walk times and distributions of inter-failure times of the machines characterize this system. The stochastic characteristics are then used to develop system performance measures formulae.
