Oracle shares surge on strong results

Article Abstract:

Oracle Corp. posted a 31% improvement in its net income for the fourth quarter ending on May 31, 1999. The company asserted that strong database-software sales helped to produce the higher-than-expected results. Oracle's net income for the period reached $527.4 million (506.2 million euros). During the same period in 1998, the company posted $402.8 million in net income. Oracle's sales increased by 22% to $2.94 billion.

Cisco reports quarterly loss; offers some hope for rebound

Cisco Systems Inc. posted a $2.69 billion (3.04 billion euros) loss for the three-month period ending April 28, 2001. The company however, expects that its business will "hit bottom" in the next six-month period.

Cisco continues a strong run as sales soar
