Towards zero: German economy

Article Abstract:

Germany is entering a recession in which the economy is expected to shrink slightly in the first half of 1993. It is not expected to be a severe downturn though, as the economy are not in bad shape and a resurgence by Germany's trading partners should help.

Economists predicting an end to the German recession in 1993 warn of the need to address the structural problems of the former East Germany. They fear inflationary pressures will inhibit a robust recovery.
