Outlook: sectoral analysis: value trends

Article Abstract:

The disposable paper products market sectors in Benelux is expected to be stable beginning 1997 to 2002. The market should stabilize because of lower subsector volatility and market maturity. The unstable pulp prices and strong disposable diaper products' price competition will significantly affect the stability of some subsector's long term relative share. The prices of raw materials cannot be a basis because of its volatility. Meanwhile, the level of maturity of the market will hinder significant increases or declines in the sectoral level because of unforeseen level of product innovations among others.

Emerging product sectors: new launches

Article Abstract:

The disposable paper products market in Benelux has no significant innovations due to significance of consumer conservatism, brand loyalty and aggressive imitation of innovations by rivals. Among the modest innovations are design improvisation for kitchen towels, new packaging methods and change to premium versions. For example, Kimberly-Clark launched Huggies in major markets in Europe to compete with Procter & Gamble's leading brand, Pampers. The two brands was aggressively competing in terms of price and quality features such as absorbency and thinness.
