HARRISONS MALAYALAM TO ACQUIRE PLANTATION AREAS

Article Abstract:

Harrisons Malayalam Limited (HML) of RPG group has registered growth in both rubber and tea markets. The company has decided to widen its plantation area in India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam and Kenya. Its tea yields have crossed 3,000 kilograms (kg) per hectare creating a record in the country. It has posted a net profit of Rs13.24 crore in 1997-98 while its profit before tax was at Rs26.74 crore. It has recommended a dividend of 35 percent for the year. (gs)

HARRISONS TO USE SPENCER'S NAME FOR NEW TEA BRAND

Article Abstract:

Harrisons Malayalam of the RPG group has tied-up an agreement with fellow group company, Spencer's Ltd, under which it will use the Spencer's name for a new brand of tea. Spencer's Tea was launched in Chennai in the last week of March 1999. The RPG group, which has announced the sale of the Spencer's brand, has decided to retain the Spencer's brand name for tea.
