POLAND: AUSTROTHERM EXPANDS OUTPUT

Article Abstract:

The Austrian company Austrotherm has become one of Poland's three leading producers of polystyrene insulation boards. The company has brought on stream its second Polish plant, doubling its total production capacity there to 1mn cu.m per year. The new plant in Kiernewice involved investments of Sch 30mn. The number of staff there is to be increased from 20 to 30 in the medium term. The Austrotherm plant in Oswiecim generated a turnover of Sch 100mn in 1998. The production is sold mainly through builders' merchants. In 1998 Austrotherm generated a turnover of Sch 615mn in Austria, compared with Sch 570mn in 1997. The company has production sites also in Hungary and Slovakia.
