There are approximately 18,000 pachinko parlors in Japan that earn an estimated total of $270 billion annually. The games, which have been described as a combination slot and pinball machine, are allegedly linked to the Japanese mafia and are receiving a growing amount of criticism.

South Korean businessmen are eager to purchase US and European businesses. They should be careful about their investments and not repeat the poor investment choices made by Japanese investors in the 1980s. In general, Korean investors are making better choices.

Local breweries across Japan produce jizake, the finest and purest of sakes. Like all sakes, jizake is made from fermented rice, but the alcoholic beverage is chemically one of the most complex in the world and available only in Japan.
