U.S. firms feel at home charging more in Japan

Article Abstract:

The prevailing high value of the Japanese yen over the US dollar has made imported US consumer products cheaper in Japan, allowing some manufacturers to undercut their Japanese rivals and gain a foothold in the local market. However, some US manufacturers continue to charge exorbitant prices for their products sold in Japan. Many observers believe that such a pricing strategy could inhibit the growth of US manufacturers and stir a strong consumer backlash in Japan.

China's private firms are a force to reckon with...

Article Abstract:

The private companies in China are emerging as a formidable competitor for companies all over the world. This is more damaging because China strategists have never realized the competitive power of these private companies, while focusing on the inefficient state-run companies and collective enterprises. In just two or three years, these companies have achieved economies of scale, brand recognition, access to funds and management skills.

Japanese firms can get back on the fast-growth track

Article Abstract:

Japanese businesses can again experience considerable growth if effective management techniques are employed. There are several pointers to help Japanese businesses grow and these include setting bold goals, speculation, investment in research and development and keeping only profitable alliances. Rapid growth depends on management executives' drive, ingenuity and authority to move ahead.
