The environment has always been an important topic in Rocky Mountain politics, and it is in the region's upcoming Senate races. This region of the US is politically apart from the rest of the country, as issues of importance everywhere else do not hold much sway there.

Trouble on the farm
Article Abstract:
Agriculture was expected to be the engine for economic recovery for the nations of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union and help them make the transition into capitalism. Instead farm output in the region fell by at least 10% in 1992.
