Park life: city planning

Article Abstract:

British citizens are enjoying the results of a change in city planning: an emphasis on open spaces and parks, and on the pedestrian. Car-free zones are becoming more popular in London; the banning of vehicles on the Horse Guards Parade facing St. James Park has been extremely successful. The next location for developing pedestrian-friendly zones are Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square. As parks are developed, money is spent on lights, path improvement, and security cameras to keep the parks safe for the public.
