People on track

Article Abstract:

Railtrack Asset Development Manager Robin Lovell has been responsible for employing architects Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners to redesign Paddington station, London, England, to offer improved customer facilities and service. Lovell confirms the number of customers on the railways has risen by 25%, between 1994-99. He points out railway stations are in some ways similar to shopping centres. But the stations have to meet operational needs and may be controlled by historic building laws. Lovell has also commissioned a number of architects to work on other stations in London.
