The UK retail market for personal disposable products includes disposable nappies, adult and bay wipes, sanitary products, cotton wool and buds, and non-prescription incontinence pads. The total market was worth 900 million pounds sterling in 1997, up 9.2% from 1993. Sales of personal paper products are dominated by disposable nappies, with a 52% value share of the sector, followed by sanitary products, wipes, cotton wool and buds, and incontinence pads. Procter & Gamble dominates the market, followed by Kimberly-Clark. The personal paper products market is forecast to reach 945.9 million pounds sterling in 2002, up 5.1% from 1997.
