Planning and performance in state-owned enterprises: a multidimensional assessment

Article Abstract:

The link between planning and performance in government-owned enterprises is investigated. Specifically, the planning-output effectiveness and planning-process effectiveness of 55 Greek state-owned firms are measured based on 12 planning variables identified from a statistical analysis of their levels of decentralization, formalism, depth of analysis, monitoring and planning coverage. The results disproved the notion that the development planning processes leads to healthier financial performance.

Planning of high school examinations in Denmark

Article Abstract:

A microcomputer-based decision support system that is being used by the Danish Ministry of Education to plan high school examinations is introduced. The system, which employs heuristics, decomposes the combinatorial problem into four interrelated tasks. These pertain to the drafting of examination subjects, the scheduling of examinations and the assignment of censors to examinations.
