Plenty of gloom: environmental scares - forecasters of scarcity and doom are not only invariably wrong, they think that being wrong proves them right

Article Abstract:

Highly publicized doomsday forecasts, such as Paul Erlich's overpopulation worries, or the Club Of Rome's 1972 'Limits to Growth', have all become popular assumptions despite having been disproved. The political implications of false science are evident in the current global warming debate.

Profits of doom

Article Abstract:

Consumer price index statistics seem to indicate that workers are not being compensated fairly as corporate profits soar, but such statistics paint an erroneous picture. Output prices show that real wages have risen, and many workers also have shares in companies through pension funds.
