Article Abstract:

The California Voters' Bill of Rights is an initiative that seeks to reduce the influence of big money on the state's political life by introducing contribution limits and disclosure requirements. Republican and millionaire, Ron Unz, is one supporter of the move, and George Soros also favors campaign reform. Berkshire Hathaway head, Warren Buffet, sees political access as an underpriced stock, and sees the US as becoming a plutocracy as this changesand requests for funds from business increase.

Pete Wilson, new progressive

California governor Pete Wilson is being dubbed as a progressive politician because of his policies that have propelled California from economic recession to strong economic growth. Pete Wilson is propelled by market economics that sets him apart from other politicians. His potentials may propel him to national office when he retires from his post as California governor in 1998.

Many emerging countries, believing that industrialization is the quickest path to economic development, try to convert from agricultural to manufacturing-based economies. Yet new evidence suggests that agriculture can provide as much economic growth as manufacturing.
