Precast makes a smooth connection at Paddington

Article Abstract:

Strict structure regulations coupled with load balances made the inclusion of precast concrete pillars at the refurbished Paddington Station in London one of the most complex commissions for concrete specialists Trent Concrete. Beams of horizontal and vertical precast concrete were required to be constructed in a free-standing pattern, joined only to the main building by movement joints. Trent Concrete used computer graphics to simulate the supporting structure required to hold the horizontal concrete beams.

Precast cladding blends seamlessly with stone

Article Abstract:

The potential of concrete cladding is illustrated in the redevelopment of a building in Birmingham, originally owned by NatWest Property Group. It required urgent upgrading and the floor area needed to be increased. The greater part of the structure was demolished, leaving only the four levels of the underground car park intact. The new structure was rebuilt using natural stone, stone-faced precast-concrete cladding and reconstituted stone cladding panels.
