ABN Amro has new approach to trading

ABN Amro NV will begin trading on the 300 largest shares in Europe, in terms of industry sector. The company will also leverage off its local brokerage networks in Europe as part of a strategy to improve its competitiveness.

ABN Amro may shuffle U.S. business

ABN Amro Holding NV appears to be prepared to sell off its commercial banking operations in New York and strengthen its investment banking in the US. ABN Amro is planning to acquire ING Barings's businesses in the US.

ABN Amro causes stir in Italy

Article Abstract:

ABN Amro Holding NV announced that it was considering acquiring a larger share of Banca di Roma SpA. ABN also said it is interested in acquiring a controlling percentage of the bank. Banca di Roma is the fourth-largest bank in Italy in terms of assets. Regulators in Italy has given approval to ABN to purchase as much as 30% of Banca di Roma. The bank's share value rose 8.3% following the news of ABN's plans.
