Canandaigua acquires 8 brands from Diageo PLC

Article Abstract:

Diageo PLC has sold off eight Canadian whiskey brands to Canandaigua Brands Inc. in a $185.5 million transaction. Diageo is the largest spirits company in the world. The sell-off was designed to reduce Diageo's large liquor brand portfolio. The deal also represented the company's first voluntary selling of brands since Diageo was established over a year ago. The Black Velvet brand is one of the brands being sold to Canandaigua.

Procter & Gamble will buy Iams and aim to expand its global sales

Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G) has reached an agreement to purchase Iams Co. for $2.05 billion (1.91 billion euros). Under the terms of the deal, P&G will assume debts of $250 million. According to P&G's chief executive officer Durk Jager, Iams is a good match for his company. P&G possesses expertise in the health and nutrition industries. Iams will benefit from P&G's presence internationally.
