New facade on an original frame

Article Abstract:

A mixed office and commercial building has been built using some of the existing steel structure of the 1931 Yardley House in Old Bond Street, London, England. The 1931 building was extended and overclad in the 1950s and had become dilapidated. To avoid planning restrictions, a refurbishment was planned although the work involved extensive demolition and rebuilding. Original windows and frontages were restored. Swan House lacks the style of the original but is an asset to the dull streetscape and has attracted high quality tenants.
