Article Abstract:

Online stockbroking is becoming more popular in Germany and stock ownership is also spreading among the population. Around 13% of the population holds stocks, according to the German Share Institute, and this was only 9% prior to the stock flotation of Deutsche Telekom. Consors is a successful discount brokers which has had a major impact on the German market, and has led to the creation of imitators. The retail banks are also becoming involved in this market.
