Prudential bids for rest of Egg unit's shares

Article Abstract:

Prudential PLC of the United Kingdom will buyback the 21.7 percent it doesn't already own in subsidiary Egg PLC also of the United Kingdom. The internet arm of the insurance giant racked up large losses after an unsuccessful expansion in France. However, Egg PLC posted pretax profit of 15 million Pounds ($26 million) in the first half of this year after a 1.7 million Pounds loss for 2004.

BP unveils new Russia deal as Gazprom buys venture stake

Article Abstract:

TNK-BP, a Russian joint venture of British petroleum company BP PLC, will sell its 62.89% stake in Rusia Petroleum to OAO Gazprom. Gazprom, BP, and TNK-BP will then set up a joint team to research and identify strategic investment opportunities both inside Russia and overseas.

Goldman to buy Port operator

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. of the United States is to acquire Associated British Ports Holdings PLC of the United Kingdom for 2.5 billion Pounds ($4.59 billion). AB Ports has announced that a rival consortium headed by Macquarie Bank Ltd. of Australia may bid.
