RIL TEAM WINS JAYAMKONDAM PROJECT

Article Abstract:

A Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) led consortium has won the contract for setting up the 500 mega watts (mw) Jayamkondam integrated mining and power generation project in Tamil Nadu. The other members of the consortium are North American Coal Corporation of the US, Foster Wheeler Corporation and Consolidated Electric Power Asia Ltd of the US. The project is estimated to cost Rs3500 crore in the first phase. The project includes 3.5-3.7 million tonnes per annum of lignite mining and establishing a 500 mw power generation plant. RIL had quoted a real average tariff of Rs1.06 per kwh. The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation has offered a letter of intent to the RIL- led consortium. (rk)

A-I WINS GROUND HANDLING DEAL FOR COCHIN AIRPORT

Article Abstract:

Air-India (A-I) has bagged the ground handling contract for the Cochin International Airport. The Cochin International Airport is India's first private airport project and is coming up at Nedumbassery, near Kochi. Air-India proposes to invest Rs40 crore in the 10-year project. It will also pay 15 percent of the gross earnings as licence fee for the contract. Air-India hopes to post a 0.5 percent rise in its earnings every year for the next 10 years. (ag)

EMCO WINS AUTO TRANSFORMER ORDER FROM TEC

Article Abstract:

Emco Transformers Ltd has won an order for a 250 MVA auto transformer from Tata Electric Companies (TEC) for its backbay receiving station being set up at South Mumbai. Due to space constraints in the area, the transformer has to be compact but still suitable for utilising oil to SF6 gas communicating bushings. (khr)
