IDBI LEAVES ESSAR OUT FROM STEEL BAIL-OUT PACKAGE

Article Abstract:

The Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI), which is preparing bail-out packages for steel projects stuck in various stages of completion, has left out the project of Essar Steel. IDBI has short-listed seven steel projects for reappraisal in the first round - Ispat Industries and Ispat Metallics, Usha Ispat, Jindal Vijaynagar, SJK Steel, SR Steel and SR Minerals. The projects will be reappraised to re-establish long term viability and additional funds will be given to them only if they are considered viable. Promoters will have to agree to a monthly monitoring of the projects by engineers appointed by IDBI and outside consultants. (khr)
